RASPBERRY VINEGAR
2 cups raspberries,
1 cup rose petals,
1-teaspoon honey,
2 points (I L) cider vinegar.
Steep the first three ingredients in the vinegar for one month in a covered earthenware pot. Strain, dilute with an equal part of distilled Water. Use as a toner.
OILY SKIN ASTRINGENT
¼ teaspoon boric acid powder,
1 dessertspoon witch hazel,
2 oz (60g) glycerin,
2 oz (60g) alcohol,
1 ½ oz (45g) rose water,
¼ teaspoon friar’s balsam (benzoin)
Dissolve the boric acid powder in the witch hazel, add other ingredients Mix thoroughly.
LAVENDER WATER
2 cups lavender flowers,
1 oz (30g) powdered orris root,
1-pint (6dl) vinegar.
Steep the dry ingredients in the vinegar for three to four weeks; strain,Dilute with the same amount of distilled water.Use as a toner.
ELDER FLOWER RINSE
1 cup elder flowers (fresh or dried),
1 pint (6dl) boiling water
Pour boiling water over the flowers and allow to steep for a minimum eight hours. Strain, use as a toner.
ROSE VINEGAR
4 cups dried red roses,
½ cup essence of rose,
1-pint (6dl) vinegar,
Put all ingredients in a lidded glass jar;allow to stand for three weeks,Often shaking it. Strain, dilute with equal parts of distilled water. Use as a toner.
PEPPERMINT VINEGAR
1 pint (6dl) elder vinegar,
1 pint (6dl) distilled water,
1 cup mint leaves.
Bring all ingredients to the boil, remove and place in a glass container Allow to steep for five days; strain, use as an astringent.
CUCUMBER TONER
1 peeled cucumber,
1-teaspoon witch hazel,
1-teaspoon rose water,
Egg white
Mash the cucumber, add witch hazel and rose water; beat the egg white to a forth; mix very well. Refrigerate.Strain before use.
SAGE ASTRINGENT
½ cup dried sage,
½ cup alcohol,
1-teaspoon glycerin,
3 tablespoons witch hazel,
¼ teaspoon friar’s balsam (benzoin)
¼ teaspoon boric acid powder
Steep the sage in the alcohol for a week, strain. Dissolve boric acid powder
in the witch hazel, add this and all other ingredients to sage extract.
