5-Minute Makeup

Bookmark and Share

We've all been there. Maybe hit the snooze button a few too many times, not feeling like putting on a face full of makeup, or just want a natural daytime look. I often have to wear heavy make up for long periods of time, so on days when I'm not shooting or just bumming around the office, this is my go-to look. And it only takes 5 minutes! Really

These are some of my favorite easy-to-use products that will have you looking fresh-faced and ready for the day in no time at all.

1) BB Cream with tint
BB Cream is perfect when you are in a rush.  It serves not only as a moisturizer, which you should be using every day anyway, but it can also give you a dewy complexion and cover imperfections. I have tried many BB creams over the years, but the one I like the most is Lancôme Bienfait Teinté. Rub a quarter-sized dollup all over your face and blend into your jawline and neck.
Total time: 30 seconds

2) Concealer
The key to really looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed is a good concealer under your eyes. I am absolutely in love with Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer for Undereye. A bit pricy, but worth every penny. It's smooth and creamy, and highly pigmented so you only need a little bit...and it will last you a long time! Dab gently and blend into the area below your eye.

Make sure to use your ring finger, as this finger applies the least amount of pressure, which is important in this delicate under eye area. You never want to pull or tug around this area. That's what she said.
Total time: 30 seconds

3) Brows
This is the part of this five-minute process that takes the most amount of time. Refer to my previous blog post on brows for details.
Total time: 2 minutes

4) Mascara
Mascara is also really important to looking awake. Curl your lashes quickly, and add two coats. My favorite drugstore brand is Loreal Carbon Black Voluminous Mascara. It's the absolute best.
Total time: 1:20

5) Bronzer
Brush on a quick bronzer to give yourself a little luminance. Apply to your cheekbones, and a quick brush along your hairline and jawline. I'm really into Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker Bronzer right now. It has some special ingredients that match to your skins pH, and adjust the bronze color to your individual skin tone. Some Bill Nye shit right there.
Total time: 30 seconds

6) Tinted lip gloss
When you're in a hurry and don't have time for liner and lipstick, a tinted gloss will do. NYX has some great ones. I use their Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait, but really all the colors are great.
Total time: 10 seconds

Yep. For all you math majors out there, that's 5 minutes. Who doesn't have time for that? One last tip, make sure to take a translucent powder with you on quick makeup days like this. The BB cream, even though it does have nice coverage, definitely won't give you a matte look. It will be dewy, which can turn into just plain shiny throughout the day. Dab some powder in your T-Zone if needed. Cheers! Xx
