Is worrying about your to-do list, a big project at work or your child's problems at school keeping you awake at night? If so, you are not alone. Those racing thoughts that click through your head at night and the fitful nights that come with them are a key problem for many working women.

Sleep specialist Dr. Barry Krakow has pioneered a unique seven-step program to help busy women get the rest they need. The natural do-it-yourself approach targets the mental, emotional and physical causes of sleep problems. Dr. Krakow who has studied people's sleep patterns for 20 years outlines this drug-free, mind-body approach in his book, “Sound Sleep, Sound Mind 7 Keys to Sleeping through the Night”.

Dr. Krakow knows multi-tasking women can feel overwhelmed by their daily schedule whether it's prepping for that big meeting, getting dinner ready after a long day at work or waking up with an infant at night and still being on your professional game the next day. Dr. Krakow believes it's all in how you approach your efforts.

“How do you really feel about those nightly feedings or making dinner? Some chores are more satisfying, some are tedious,” says Dr. Krakow. The lesson would be to confront your feelings about why dinner might be drudgery and to work through those feelings and related insights.

"When you pay closer attention to your emotions, there's a much greater chance you'll respect your feelings and learn from them," says Dr. Krakow. "After that, it's a lot easier to let them go. If you instead let emotions linger, they eventually cause insomnia." The key is to not allow yourself to be controlled by your stress and your emotions.

“Be aware of your responses. Clean that all up during the day and you won't have insomnia at night,” says Dr. Krakow. “Our patients tell us they have been set free by it.”

“Sound Sleep, Sound Mind 7 Keys to Sleeping through the Night” explains that people who suffer from insomnia or poor sleep must address both psychological and physical factors to solves their sleep problems. It will show you how to fall asleep faster, wake up fewer times at night and how to fall back asleep more quickly if you do wake. Your reward will be enhanced physical and mental health as well as better concentration and an improved mood.
